Question 1.

The profits for the last five years of a firm were as follows –

Year 2012 ₹ 40,200;

year 2013 ₹ 39,800;

year 2014 ₹ 45,500;

year 2015 ₹ 44,500;

year 2016 ₹  50,000.  Calculate the value of goodwill of the firm on the basis of 3 years purchase of average profit of last five years.

 Answer: Value of Goodwill ₹ 1,32,000

The profits for the last five years of a firm were as follows –

Year 2015 ₹ 20,000;(Loss)

year 2016 ₹ 85,000;

year 2017 ₹ 95,000;

year 2018 ₹ 1,20,000;

year 2019 ₹ 1,00,000.  Calculate the value of goodwill of the firm on the basis of 3 years purchase of average profit for the last four years.

Calculate the value of goodwill of the firm on the basis of 2 years purchase of average profit for the last four years.

 Answer: Value of Goodwill ₹ 2,90,000

The profit of firm for past years were as follow :

The books of a business showed that the capital employed on March 31, 2022, ₹ 4,00,000 and the profits for the last five years were:

March 31 2015– ₹50,000:

March 31 2016- ₹ 60,000;

March 31 2017- ₹ 65,000;

March 31 2018- ₹ 70,000 and

March 31 2019- ₹ 85,000.
You are required to find out the value of goodwill based on 4 years purchase of the super-profits of the business, given that the normal rate of return is 10%.
Answer: Value of Goodwill ₹ 1,04,000.
Question 10.

Capital employed in a business is ₹20,00,000. The normal rate of return on capital
employed is 15%. During the year 2022, the firm earned a profit of Rs.4,80,000. Calculate
goodwill on the basis of 3 years purchase of super profit?
Answer: Value of Goodwill ₹5,40,00

Question 11.

Calculate goodwill on the basis of 3 years purchase of super profit., given that the assets of the
business are ₹10,00,000 and its external liabilities are ₹1,80,000. A business has earned average profits of ₹1,40,000 during the last few years. The normal rate of return on capital employed is 10%.
Answer: Value of Goodwill ₹1,74,00

Question 12.

The average net profits expected of a firm is future are ₹ 78,000 per years and capital invested in the business by the firm is ₹ 3,00,000.
